Al Salam Street tunnel to open shortly
- United Arab Emirates: Thursday, October 04 - 2012 at 09:00
The municipality of Abu Dhabi City has said work on the new Al Salam Street Tunnel is progressing according to the set schedule, and will open for vehicles shortly, Wam has reported. The tunnel is the largest so far in the UAE, and is set to act as a vital transportation and traffic corridor capable of handling higher traffic volumes, thus easing the pressure on main streets parallel to or intersecting with Al Salam Street as well as those of the neighbourhood. It would be kept under a trial period before it is officially opened, said a joint committee for managing accidents in the tunnel.
