Al Tamimi and Company announces new Head of technology, media and telecommunications

With the Middle East experiencing exponential growth in the information and communications technology sector, Al Tamimi and Company is pleased to announce it has appointed Chris Appleby to lead its Technology, Media and Telecommunications practice.

Based in the DIFC office, Chris brings a wide range of experience in a number of jurisdictions including Dubai, Qatar, Australia, Hong Kong and New Zealand.

Chris qualified as a solicitor in Christchurch, New Zealand in 1991 and advises on information technology, telecommunications law and regulation, large-scale IT/telecoms infrastructure procurement, systems integration, outsourcing and competitive tendering and contracting.

Prior to joining Al Tamimi, Chris headed up a Qatar based law firm's Technology, Media, Telecommunications and Intellectual Property practice. Chris was also previously a partner and Head of TMT Middle East in the Dubai office of an international law firm.

Husam Hourani, managing partner at Al Tamimi, described this appointment as an enormous step forward as Chris brings a wealth of international experience and will ensure the growth and development of the Technology, Media & Telecommunications practice across the region.

Chris will lead an established team of five lawyers based in Dubai with a number of TMT specialists across the firm's regional offices.
