- PRESS RELEASE
Al Zahra is pleased to announce it is putting the finishing touches to its brand new hospital, which is set to open its doors in Dubai in early 2013. The new state of the art facility will bring the Al Zahra's outstanding record for personal care and best practice to Dubai, as part of its long-standing commitment to improving healthcare provision in the UAE.
With every physician having trained in some of the very best medical institutions in the world, residents and visitors alike will benefit from a broad range of global expertise and a new level of patient and family centred care. As part of this commitment, ongoing staff training and development will be at the heart of Al Zahra's approach to ensure it continues to utilise global best practices while delivering care in a healing environment, including reduced waiting times and best value in terms of treatment costs.
Dr. David Saxton, Chief Medical Officer of Al Zahra Hospital Dubai, said: "The Al Zahra name is synonymous with trust and is widely known as the best hospital in Dubai when it comes to patient care. We are proud to be bringing Al Zahra to Dubai and believe that this hospital - with its combination of state of the art facilities and diagnostic equipment, along with the globally trained physicians and unique personal touch - will make Al Zahra the hospital of choice for people living across Dubai and beyond."
With the final touches for the public opening underway, Al Zahra is currently undertaking an in-depth training initiative to ensure every employee - from physicians and nurses to housekeeping and HR - understands the significance of basic healthcare quality and safety, and their role in achieving it.
The training has been developed by leading healthcare system strategists from Longwood HSC, a US company whose origins are with Huron Consulting Group's Global Healthcare practice and Harvard Medical International, formerly the International arm of Harvard Medical School. They have used their extensive global network to bring top specialists and fresh perspectives to advise Al Zahra on a range of areas relating to the hospitals infrastructure and policies.
Using their expertise, Longwood have created a bespoke series of week-long workshops, each one providing theoretical and practical insight across a broad range of areas that impact quality. Areas of focus include best practices for patient safety and improved patient care outcomes, what drives patient and family satisfaction and how to continually improve, and methods for identifying reliable and standardized care and where there are opportunities for ongoing improvement.
Dr James F Pelegano MD, Consultant at Longwood HSC, said: "This level of training is an integral part of any modern hospital but is still quite unique to this region. This partly because it requires a significant investment, and the fact that this being driven and attended by the hospital's senior leadership and department heads is a true testament to its dedication to high quality care and service."
