- Saudi Arabia: Wednesday, October 10 - 2012 at 02:36
Saudi dairy and food producer Almarai Co has reported a 4.7% increase in net profit in the third quarter of this year, Saudi Gazette has reported. The kingdom's largest-listed food company by market value said third-quarter earnings rose to SR450m ($120m) for the period ended September 30, compared with SR429.7m a year-ago. The increase in profits was hurt by "high material costs resulting from ongoing erratic commodity prices, and also persistent increase in overhead costs due to the expansion in new projects." Revenue for the quarter rose 27% to SR2.7bn from SR2.1bn a year-ago, helped by strong performance at its bakery and poultry unit, Almarai said.
