Alstom delivers construction of Alsalam substation in Madinah

In an ever changing, evolving world, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has been topping the charts of growth and development. As the country flourishes and grows, all economic sectors of KSA; interconnected and intertwined as they are; exponentially rise together thus increasing demand for power. Alstom Grid has been awarded two contracts with SEC (Saudi Electric Company) in Madinah KSA. The projects value was contracted as $116 213 333.

In order to meet rapidly growing demand in Madinah City, a new 380/110/13.8kV BSP located in Madinah, named as Al-Salam BSP and associated 380kV Circuits, will be constructed.

This project will cover the interconnection between Al-Salam BSP and other 380kV BSP's in National Grid Network; MDN (Medina North) 380KV BSP, PS2 (Pumping Station-2) 380KV BSP, YNB3 (Yanbu-3) 380KV BSP, MDS (Medina South) 380KV BSP, MDE (Medina East).

This is the first awarded 380 KV with Saudi Electricity Company since 2007. This is part of the KSA Grid interconnection projects plan. It will improve the network in Madinah to face the increasing demand.

Alstom Grid has been present in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for over three decades, bringing to the market strong capabilities in engineering, manufacturing, and project management in addition to the supply of products and solutions for Grid and Power, building upon the great relationship with SEC.
Alstom currently has five reporting units, three operating sites and three sales offices in Saudi.

Under the authorities' programme to strengthen the Kingdom's energy infrastructure, the Alstom Grid turnkey projects will increase the capacity and the efficiency of the electrical grid in the central part of the country.

These projects will build on Alstom Grid's several references in the country, which include successful delivery of the world's largest Gas-Insulated substation and the Gulf's largest High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) converter station (3x600 MW) interconnecting the six member GCC states.

Alstom is the market leader in the regional control center through the regional control center in Central, Western and Eastern Region with the GCCIA entity as the central control.
