  • PRESS RELEASE

Leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal has expanded its Global Forensic and Dispute Services practice to Dubai with the addition of Stephen Millington, who joins as managing director.

The former Middle East head of financial investigations for Kroll, Mr. Millington has an extensive background in financial investigations and disputes, having led numerous confidential and complex investigations on behalf of lawyers, government entities and private and public sector companies spanning a range of industries across the Middle East, U.K., Europe and the U.S. His work has often involved gathering and analyzing financial and other information from internal and public sources across a wide variety of jurisdictions to develop evidence related to suspected fraud or corruption or to identify assets for recovery. He recently has been assisting the Afghan government in conducting an investigation into the causes of the collapse of its largest retail bank, resulting in losses of more than $1bn.

"The recent economic crisis has resulted in many entities looking to take action to recover funds that may have been illegitimately taken from them," said Julian Jones, managing director with A&M's Global Forensic and Dispute Services practice in London. "This, in turn, has led to a significant demand for investigative services around the world, with the Middle East in particular becoming a hotbed of activity."

"Alvarez & Marsal has established a substantial global footprint for our Forensic and Dispute Services practice, recognizing that a local presence is essential in handling many of these complex cases," said Bryan Ruez, managing director and global co-leader of A&M's Global Forensic and Dispute Services practice. "Stephen is among the top Middle East experts in this field, with experience and local insights that significantly strengthen our capabilities in the region and beyond."
