- PRESS RELEASE
Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation (registered in Saudi Arabia), chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud and vice chaired by HH Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel who is also the Secretary General of the Foundation, announced the launch of its development center for volunteer youth initiatives.
The Foundation has supported the establishment of a development center for volunteering youth as Saudi Arabia is home to a large number of young males and females who have the potential, ability and enthusiasm for volunteer work. Such youth need to be among specialized licensed entities that provide them with support, guidance and training.
The center assumes a leading role in the area of volunteer youth initiatives that contribute to communities. A group of dedicated young males and females, recruited by the foundation, has established the center under the supervision of Princess Ameerah Al Taweel. The center is headed by Mr. Majid Alkhamis and Ms. Lujain Al Ubaid, both active in the field.
The center launched its first initiative through supporting "Smile", a volunteer group which aims to draw a smile on the faces of children in various ways through special programs. "Smile" supports children with special needs such as orphans, cancer patients, and Down Syndrome by organizing visits, entertainment programs and donation campaigns of gifts and necessities in order to spread the joy of childhood.
The group has organized a "Smile" campaign held in The Kingdom shopping center and Nujood center until the 22nd Ramadan. The group is receiving donations of quality new toys for children of all age groups to be distributed to special need children during Eid. This campaign has been supported by many Saudi celebrities as well. "Smile" thanks the society for their support.
