Aman Insurance returns to profits, shares rise

The DFM General Index fell 1.11% to 1,948.27 points amid low turnover as news about a busted Al-Qaeeda-linked terror cell of 7 Arab nationals in the UAE weighed on the sentiment. Emaar dived 2.66% to Dhs5.13. Dubai Insurance and Reinsurance Co., known as Aman Insurance, jumped 4% to hit Dhs1.04. Earlier in the day, Aman said it earned in 2012 a profit of Dhs6.02m, up from a loss of Dhs20.65m in the year before. Banks Emirates NBD (up 0.23%) ad Shuaa Capital (0.25% higher) bucked the downtrend as well. Four shares advanced, 17 declined while 5 ended even.
