Young Arab Scientists set to present their vision of future at 3rd Annual Intel Science Competition-Arab World 2012

Bringing together 110 of the regions brightest 14 to 18 year olds the competition encourages Arab youth to push the boundaries of scientific research to become active members of the community and global innovation economy.

Taking place over four days from December 16th-19th students will undergo a number of entrepreneurship and education workshops, designed to build their skills and harness their talent as part of the overall competition.

The workshops encompass two inspirational sessions including a presentation from the UNESCO Good Will Ambassador to the Arab World, Dr. Hayat Sindi and will also run an Introduction to Entrepreneurship workshop in order to develop students awareness about the benefits self-employment can bring to their career and community.

Youths will have to chance to challenge themselves by participating in two brainstorming sessions designed to help them come up with ideas on the development of national sciences and how to build interest in Technology, Math, Engineering and Science education across the Arab World.

Commenting on the start of the ISC-AW 2012, the UAE Minister of Education, stated, "This competition is not just about winning. It is about the overall learning experience, connecting young minds with their regional peers, helping them draw knowledge from international and local experts and providing them with an opportunity to become a leader in their chosen field of study. Science and technology is a vital component of modern economic development and we are dedicated to helping students hone their talent so that the can thrive and become active members of the community in the near future."

A total of 69 scientific projects across different categories will be showcased over the course of the event including but not limited to; Behavioral & Social Sciences, BioChemistry and Chemistry, Computer Science, Math, Physics & Astronomy, Energy and Transportation, Environmental Sciences & Management, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.

Among the projects that will be presented in this year's competition, the UAE team is competing with 10 project and 22 students showcasing their cutting edge inventions such: the Smart Abolition system, harnessing the power of the Gulf waves and continuous under water respiratory system and recycling of car batteries.

The ISC-AW 2012 is a unique innovative platform through which we bring together the regions brightest minds enabling them to showcase their talent and pursue their dreams," stated Taha Khalifa, Regional General Manager for Intel Corporation in the Middle East and North Africa.

UAE residents and visitors can attend the competition on December 19th 8:30 am to 10:30 am, Dubai World Trade Centre Hall No. 8 and to visit student booths and preview their vision of our future.

Competing nations include; Egypt, Jordan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, UAE, and Tunisia. Prize money is valued at $25000.

The UAE Ministry of Education is the key sponsor of the event.
