Arabal outlines credentials and scope of speakers on 1st day of conference

The Organizing Committee of the Arab Aluminium International Conference "Arabal" - hosted by Qatalum in Doha over 20-22 November - has provided further information on the Day One sessions, dealing with various crucial subjects and holding important discussions related to aluminium industry.

After the opening session, which will include the key addresses of the official spokesmen, Dr. Ali Al Suwaidi, Technical Director of Qatar Holding, and Dr. Antonio Tropeano, CEO of FATA Hunter & FATA EPC will take part in a debate entitled "The Future prospects to expanding local use and creating local demand through the development & expansion of the use of aluminium products".

During this session, discussions will centre on methods of developing the converting industries related to aluminium industry, as countries of the region represent huge productive power and potential, acquiring a significant share of aluminium raw material production.

The first day will also see a presentation entitled "Reshaping the world aluminium balance" to be delivered by Oleg Mukhamedshin, Deputy CEO of UC RUSAL Co., during which he will review the actual international aluminium market as well as offer and demand, price, production and other influencing factors.

As for technology, a dialogue session will be held to review the most important technology currently or soon to be implemented in the aluminium industry. Abdalla Al Zarouni, Senior Manager of Technology Development at Dubai Aluminium Co. (Dubal), Asgeir Bardal from the Norwegian aluminium company "Norsk Hydro ASA", and Bernard Allais, Marketing & Director, Technology Sales & Marketing and Technical Support at Rio Tinto Alcan Company, will all take part in this session.

The first day will wrap up with a discussion session entitled "The Arab Spring" within which the participants will discuss the expected effects of recent upheaval on economic growth and investment, and the future consequences. Participants in this session include Ms Salam Saada, CEO of Active M Co.; Coleen Harris, ex media advisor to the British royal family; Trevor Phillips, Former Leader UK's Equality Human Rights Commission; and Mahmoud Al Dailami, Secretary General of the Gulf Aluminium Council.
