The Arabian Gulf University collaborates with GISTEC On GIS and remote sensing

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed on 02 October 2012 between the Arabian Gulf University and GISTEC by the President of the University, Dr. Khalid Al-Ohal; and the Managing Director & CEO of GISTEC, Mr. Mohamed Abuziad.

The purpose of the MOU is to develop and carry out collaborative activities in furtherance of the common interest of the two institutions. The scope covers continuing education, capacity development and software licensing in Geoinformatics' areas especially GIS and Remote Sensing. "With this collaboration we aim to pursue our leadership by establishing alliances with leading private sector institutes in technology as well as the adoption and diffusion of innovation" says Dr. Waleed Khalil Zubari, Dean of Graduate Studies College (AGU).

It also includes the organization of symposia, conferences, short courses and meetings on the use of GIS and RS software, applications and tools in research issues, in addition to exchange of staffs, job placement and internship for postgraduate students.

Through this collaboration, GISTEC will act as a representative of GIS professional sector in the Continuing Advisory Committee for AGU's GIS-RS specialization. GISTEC might also
be approached to act as a member of the Program Review Committee.

The two institutions both desire to catalyze the synergy between higher educational institutions and the professional sector to effectively and optimally up-rise the benefit of adopting Geoinformatics in the whole Middle East region. "It is part of our Corporate Social Responsibility to contribute in building an advanced society" emphasized Mohamed Abuziad, GISTEC CEO.
