AROQAE holds a workshop on 'how to qualify for abet accreditation'

The Arab Organization for Quality Assurance in Education (AROQAE) will be holding tomorrow a workshop entitled "how to qualify engineering, computing and IT programs to be academically accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
The new workshop addresses the methodological steps for qualifying engineering, computing and IT programs for academic accreditation (ABET). It also clarifies the accreditation process through a detailed presentation and discussion of the nine academic standards necessary to obtain ABET accreditation. Such standards include matters related to students, the program's objectives and outcomes, evaluation, continuous improvement, curricula, faculty, facilities, organizational support and the program's standards.
In addition, the workshop will be discussing other important aspects regarding the involvement of main elements such as professionals, institutions and representatives from the industry and public sectors.
AROQAE has requested presidents of universities in the Arab countries to nominate participants for the workshop which will be attended by deans of colleges and heads of departments at the faculties of Engineering, Computing and Applied Science, representatives of AROQAE in universities as well as representatives of the accreditation boards in the Arab countries. One of the most prominent objectives of AROQAE is to promote cooperation in order to activate the concept of quality in education, and seek to obtain the academic accreditation for the academic university programs in engineering and science.
ABET is the authorized body to accredit programs in applied sciences, computing, engineering and technology in the US and the rest of the world.
The Arab Organization for Quality Assurance in Education (AROQAE) is an international non-profit independent association established in Belgium in July 2007 with the fundamental objective of raising the quality of higher education in general with a particular focus on the Arab world. AROQAE is managed through a board of directors and trustees from experts and academics in several knowledge fields.
The board of directors is chaired by HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, and the honorary chairman of AROQAE is the General Secretary of the League of Arab States.
