New art gallery to launch in Al Quoz featuring contemporary paintings and sculptures

Mussawir Gallery will open its doors this month showcasing a large collection of contemporary art featuring a mix of paintings and sculptures in a 4,000 sq ft open plan space.
With over 15 years' of experience in the business of visual art, the team behind the Mussawir Gallery has selected Dubai for the opening of their first gallery in the Middle East, recognizing the city as a growing hub for international art collectors and enthusiasts in the region.
Officially opening on December 12th 2012, the gallery specializes in high-end contemporary Pakistani art and will grow its art collection to include established as well as emerging artists from the Middle East and around the world.
Mussawir Gallery seeks to raise the visibility of one of the world's most culturally rich and diverse regions as well as celebrate up and coming artists by providing them with a platform into the art world.
"Art should be shared with the community and we are fortunate to work with a number of exceptional artists whose pieces are going to help support and promote the growing art scene in the Dubai. The new gallery will appeal to anyone with an interest in contemporary art and artists, especially collectors and true art aficionados," said Mohammed Ramzan, Curator of Mussawir Gallery.
"The Mussawir gallery will add another cultural hub to the cluster of other art spaces existing in Dubai. As the founders have extensive knowledge and experience in handling and dealing with pictorial art we will successfully manage the gallery and provide an opportunity to art lovers to enjoy the unique pieces," continued Ramzan.
The opening exhibition will showcase the art work of portrait painters, Islamic and calligraphic artists such as Ismail Gulgee, Saeed Akhtar, Jamil Naqsh, Sadequain, Ahmed Khan and Iqbal Hussain.
Sadequain was one of Pakistan's best known and most prolific painters who won many international awards including the 'Cultural Award' presented by the Government of Australia in acknowledgement of his art. In his paintings, Sadequain shares his observations, beliefs and his relationship to the world around him.
"The Middle East has a long and rich artistic heritage and people living in the region, and the UAE in particular, value creativity and quality art work," said Shahzad Saeed, co-founder of Mussawir Art Gallery.
Mussawir Art Gallery is located at Al Marabea Street, Opposite Al Shirawi Equipment, Al Quoz 1.The opening times are 11am to 7pm from Saturday to Thursday.
