Aspetar demonstrates leadership role in sports medicine by hosting second Annual United In Quality and Safety Campaign

In a bid to help improve patient care internationally, Aspetar Qatar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital has organized its 2nd annual United in Quality and Safety Campaign, which will run from the 14th to 18th October, 2012.
The five-day event will provide an opportunity for the different departments within Aspetar to showcase the top performance improvement projects.
The submissions focus on enhancing patient safety, improving patient care and strengthening knowledge, performance and attitudes among staff members.
Additionally, with the assistance of the Supreme Council of Health, the event will organize several workshops, symposia and lectures, which are specifically designed to encourage individuals within the industry to network with other healthcare quality, pharmacy and infection prevention professionals from within Qatar.
The Office of Quality Management, Pharmacy Department and Infection Prevention Team will also join the educational affair in an effort to promote quality patient care and safety.
The event will feature a number of specialist guest speakers who will discuss topics that range from Drugs in Sport to Leadership Skills. Presenters include Luke Feeney, Programme Director at Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and Dr. S Chopra from Harvard School of Medicine as well as Dr. Mohamed Al-Hajri, Manager of Health Protection and CDC Department at the Supreme Council of Health.
Dr. Khalifa Al Kuwari, Aspetar's Chief Executive Officer, encouraged the public to attend the event: "We welcome you to Aspetar's 2nd Annual International Quality and Patient Safety Week. Please join us in the commemoration of this year's event. Be one of the millions around the world who will participate in educational activities and giveaways to spread knowledge and awareness."
"The event is aimed at all healthcare professionals, policy makers and researchers in particular, but this year's activities have been extended to incorporate athletes and their trainers," he added.
As part of its commitment to spearhead innovation and research in global sport medicine, Aspetar has been making impressive strides. The hospital recently previewed their findings at Bayt Qatar during the 2012 London Olympics to hundreds of sports medicine specialists and led ground breaking discussions at the annual Leaders in Performance conference.
