Aspetar Qatar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital is set to participate in the upcoming Leaders in Performance 'LIP' conference as a major partner for the second consecutive year.
LIP is dedicated to the identification, development and management of elite sporting talent and this year's edition will bring together top coaches, managers and sporting, technical and performance specialists from around the world.
As part of the partnership, Aspetar will host an exclusive symposium as well as lead a thought-provoking panel which will feature presentations from a selection of international experts including a variety of speakers from Aspetar.
The symposium will discuss cardiology in sport, and is titled Testing in the Pursuit of High Performance. Recent on-field events have highlighted the importance of sports medicine and athlete testing in the elite arena.
Aspetar's Cardiovascular Physiologist, Dr. Mathew Wilson, will share his own experiences during the discussion. Additional speakers will include Jean-Pierre Meersseman, Founder of Milan Lab, and Fabrice Muamba, the former professional football player who suffered a cardiac arrest during a televised FA Cup match between Bolton and Tottenham Hotspur in 2012.
The panel is titled Performing in the Heat: Get the most out of your Athletes. Aspetar will host a session for sports medicine practitioners to discuss current issues within today's sporting world in the Millennium suites, on day two of the conference.
Aspetar's delegation will be led by Dr. Khalifa Al Kuwari, Aspetar's Chief Executive Officer, and Dr. Hakim Chalabi, Assistant Chief Medical Officer and Executive Director of the National Sports Medicine Programme 'NSMP'.
Commenting on the partnership, Dr. Khalifa Al Kuwari said, "We are honored to be partnering with Leaders in Performance. This is a unique event that brings together the best from a diverse range of countries, sports and professions."
"We are excited about being given the opportunity to share our knowledge and ideas with our colleagues and peers in the industry. We hope that together we can identify best practices to help achieve a better understanding of key sporting performance topics," Al Kuwari added.
LIP offers a series of unique, interactive workshops that are led by the top figures and innovators in the industry, draw on the expertise of the audience, and offer deeper insight into a number of topics.
As part of its commitment to spearhead innovation and research in global sport medicine, Aspetar has been making impressive strides. The hospital recently previewed their findings at Bayt Qatar during the 2012 London Olympics to hundreds of sports medicine specialists.
