BAE Systems has announced the appointment of Andrew Humphreys as Vice President for the Middle East. Andrew is based in Abu Dhabi, the Company's regional hub. He succeeds Ben Bridge, who recently became Regional Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa, also based in Abu Dhabi.

Andrew has been appointed to lead BAE Systems' engagement in the Gulf region, working closely with the regional Directors covering the markets of UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman.

He is responsible for developing and maintaining key regional strategic partnerships and joint ventures with BAE Systems, as well as in conjunction with the UK Government. He joins the Middle East team from his role as Vice President for Southern Europe and Canada.

"Partnerships are a key part of our business globally and BAE Systems is committed to working closely with governments in the Middle East to enhance local industry and provide employment opportunities for emerging talent in the region," said Ben Bridge, Regional Managing Director, BAE Systems Middle East and Africa.

"Andrew has a strong international pedigree and extensive experience in developing BAE Systems commercial relationships. He will play a key role in progressing this across the Gulf Region, especially in Oman and the UAE," he added.

Andrew's experience comes from having worked at BAE Systems since graduating from University, performing a number of roles in the Company's military aircraft headquarters in the UK. After working in Johannesburg, South Africa, as Vice President Southern Africa, he joined BAE Systems head office team as Vice President Southern Europe.

Andrew said, "This opportunity in the Middle East represents a fantastic challenge for me in this stage of my career. I am looking forward to developing existing strategic relationships in the region, as well as forging new ones."
