Bahra Cables sponsors Saudi Arabia Smart Grid Conference and Exhibition 2012

Bahra Cables Co. Ltd. sponsored Saudi Arabia Smart Grid Conference and Exhibition - SASG 2012, which was held in Jeddah recently under the auspices of H.E. Engineer Abdulah bin Abd - ur - Rahman Al- Hossein, The Minister of Water and Electricity.

On this occasion, Engineer Talal Khalid Idriss, Chief Executive Officer of Bahra Cables Co. Ltd., said, "We were very keen to sponsor this conference in view of its importance to companies working in the power and electricity sector, where the conference provided unique opportunity to exchange ideas and insights among participants about emerging technologies in this sector. Participants including manufacturers, academics and public officials discussed the potential impact of research findings addressed at the conference in the coming decade."

He added, "The Conference, as well, addressed various important issues such as the sustainable energy, smart power, the future of IPP, IWPP, sources of renewable energy, power transmission technologies, power planning, operation and maintenance, standards and codes of smart grids, future applications of smart grids, and other issues of concern to energy and electricity sector."

On the other hand, Bahra Cables Co. was selected by Construction Week magazine as one of the 50 most prominent companies in Saudi Arabia in the construction sector.

The company has been selected in this category in view of its strong development and wide expansion in a short period, as the company was established in 2008, compared to other companies established earlier and had not reached what was achieved by Bahra Cables Co.

The award jury of the magazine said that "Bahra Cables Co." successfully enlisted itself as one of the largest manufactures of all kinds of cables of highest international standards in Saudi Arabia, which enables it to enter into mega projects both locally and internationally, such as Senegal Airport, Holy Sites Train Network in Makkah, Princess Noura University, King Abdulaziz New Airport in Jeddah and many other projects.

Bahra Cables Co. ltd., produces high, medium and low voltage cables which are fire resistant and do not emit smoke or toxic and suffocating gases in case of fire or electric short-circuit.

The company got a number of accreditation certificates such as (KEMA, IPH, SASO, LPCB, CSA, BASEC), and others for its production of power cables. The company, as well, got ISO 9001: 2008 for its collection of medium and high voltage cables up to 132 kV. Meanwhile, Bahra Cables Co. is the first Saudi cable manufacturer that has ISO 14001: 2004, and OHSAS 18001:2007.
