Bahrain Air to pay BD2.2m in severance packages

Bahrain Air, which filed for voluntary liquidation last month, is expected to pay its former staff a total of BD2.2m in severance packages, Gulf Daily News has reported. The size of compensation packages for the 345 staff ranges from BD140,000 to BD700. The privately-held carrier suspended all operations and announced it was going into voluntary liquidation on February 12 after running up more than BD17m in debts to the government.
