Bahrain Post issues set of commemorative stamps in honour of Sixth World Urban Forum 2012

Bahrain Post, part of Bahrain's Ministry of Transportation, announced on the 1st September, 2012, that it would be issuing a set of three commemorative stamps in addition to a souvenir plaque embossed with the image of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, on the occasion of the sixth World Urban Forum (WUF), which opened in Naples, Italy on 3rd September 2012.

This year's forum is being held under the theme of 'The Urban Future'.

The WUF 2012 falls under the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT), and focuses on sustainable urban development with the aim of improving the quality of life for both present and future generations.

The Forum will continue through the 7th of September, with the Kingdom is participating through an official delegation composed of representatives from a number of different Bahraini ministries and government organisations.

His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, expressed his appreciation for the mission of UN-HABITAT in a letter sent to the Forum with the Bahraini delegation, wherein he described the efforts undertaken within the Kingdom of Bahrain in the field of sustainable urban development.
