Bapco picks Technip for SRU project

France's Technip has been awarded a $16.657m lump-sum contract by Bahrain Petroleum Co (Bapco) for the engineering, procurement and construction of its sulphur recovery unit (SRU) modification project. The contract also involves pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up assistance for the project. The project will ensure that the #3 SRU is capable of safely burning sour water stripper (1) off gas and becomes a viable spare for the new #4 SRU, said Technip. The firm's operating centre in Abu Dhabi will carry out the project, which is scheduled for completion in the second half of 2014, it added.
