Batelco advances, confirms Reliance Group talks

The Manama-based Bahrain All-Share Index rose for the 8th (!) consecutive day Sunday, closing 0.18% higher at 1,127.95 points. Shares of Bahrain Telecom or Batelco posted the biggest value increase, ending up 1.58% at BD0.386. Earlier in the day Batelco confirmed reports published by the Times of India that it is in discussions with Reliance Group with respect to Reliance Globalcom. Batelco Grroup CEO Sheikh Mohd. Bin Isa Al-Khalifa said at this point there can be certainty that this will lead to a transaction." Further announcements would be made in due course "if appropriate", added the chief executive.
