Batelco resorts to arbitration to resolve dispute with regulator

Bahrain-based Batelco Group has said it has resolved its dispute with the Telecoms Regulatory Authority (TRA) over access to international cable facilities, with the fine imposed by the regulator on the firm being reduced. The company was able to reduce the fine imposed by the TRA in 2009 to BD750,000 from BD5.24m.The dispute, which has been ongoing since November 2009, was sorted out through an arbitration process involving a panel of international legal experts, Batelco said.
