Batelco seeking government funding for fibre network
- Bahrain: Thursday, October 04 - 2012 at 08:57
Batelco has said the Bahraini government should contribute towards the BD40m ($106.09m) estimated cost of building a nationwide fibre telecom network, Reuters has reported. "Is the government willing to subsidise the plan or are they leaving it to the private sector?" Rashid Abdulla, Batelco chief executive for Bahrain, told reporters in Dubai. "It's something that's still under discussion with the government. The budget to cover all of Bahrain, we're talking about something like BD40m. We'd like to see the government contribute to that," Abdulla said.
