Bcdr-Aaa trains Bahrainis in mediation

The Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA) last week organized a three day mediation training workshop in cooperation with the Singapore Mediation Center for a group of 28 Bahrain-based lawyers from local and international law firms.

The workshop, which was delivered by Mr. George Lim and Miss Ivy Lee from the Singapore Mediation Center, focused on managing conflicts and resolving disputes effectively through mediation and its benefits to the dispute parties.

Ali Al Aradi, Chief Registrar and Assistant CEO for Mediation, said, "The BCDR-AAA has now provided free mediation training for more than 600 Bahraini lawyers and professionals from different sectors since its establishment in 2010. The training of Bahraini lawyers forms a major part of the Chamber's strategy to provide the best practices in mediation and to promote alternative dispute resolution solutions in the region and internationally."

"Mediation should be the first port of call for parties in dispute. Its confidential facilitated negotiation process is a fast and cost-effective means of resolving the dispute, potentially saving thousands in legal fees," he added.

The BCDR-AAA is a one-stop-shop for alternative dispute resolution and is a major pillar to Bahrain's status as a world-class business and investment environment. Since its launch on January 2010, the Chamber has looked in to 66 cases with a value of over $1.7bn.

The Chamber provides international, regional and domestic commercial and governmental users contracting in the Gulf and beyond, with a purpose-built solution for the rapid, effective and certain resolution of commercial disputes.
