Bee'ah Board of Directors review Q1 financial statements and key projects for 2015 target of zero-waste

Bee'ah - the integrated environmental and waste management company - Board of Directors held a meeting to review the financial statements of the first quarter of 2012, and to evaluate new revenue streams for Bee'ah to set forth plans for the 2015 vision.

The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of Bee'ah, His Excellency Salim Al Owais along with Eng. Sultan Al Mualla, Vice Chairman of Bee'ah and Director General of Sharjah City Municipality, Mrs. Randa Kamal, Board Member and Chief Executive Officer of JMS, Sheikha Dr. Rasha AlQasimi, Board Member and Assistant Director General for Health, Environment & Quality Affairs of Sharjah Municipality, as well as Mr. Khaled Al Huraimel, Chief Executive Officer of Bee'ah.

With over three years of operational experience, the Bee'ah Board of Directors has set key targets paving the way for the companyto turn into theprofitability phasein 2012. The Board also reviewed and approved the strategic plans set towards achieving its 2015 vision of zero-waste to landfill in the Emirate of Sharjah, which include projects such assetting up a waste-to-energy operation and the installation of Air Quality monitoring systems in Sharjah, in addition to other key endeavors Bee'ah aims to embark upon in the coming years.

Putting plans into action, a delegation from Bee'ah and the Sharjah Municipality, will be visiting Munich in May, for the IFAT ENTSORGA - the world's premier trade show for innovations and services in water, sewage, waste and raw materials management - to explore new technological innovations and international best practices and acquire new equipment in an effort to achieve the targets set.

Furthermore, the Board of Directors accepted the provision of essential funds for establishing the "Gulf Ecosystem Research Center", in partnership with the American University of Sharjah (AUS), while also agreeingthat the setup of Air Quality monitoring systems in Sharjah will be operated and managed by the research center itself, in an effort to lead to even more enhancements in the UAE and Sharjah environment.

H.E. Salim Al Owais commented saying: "Bee'ah has come a long way since its establishment five years ago, and 2011 was particularly a challenging year and saw major milestones instituted within the company's history. We saw the launch of innovative initiatives such as the first launch of Residential Recycling in the Middle East; we also surpassed the 40% diversion rates and set our long-term goal for 2015 to reach 100% diversion of all wastes from landfill. We must also not forget our 2011 regional recognitions of winning the Facilities Management Award for Best Waste Management Company in the Middle East as well as winning the CSR Arabia Award for the unique community initiatives we introduced to the Middle East region."

He added: "Of course, there are many more milestones and the list is growing day by day, and every team at Bee'ah has contributed in one way or another to making Bee'ah the company it is today."

In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the UAE and Ruler of Sharjah, which was set at the beginning of 2012, to increase all salaries of government employees in Sharjah; it was also announced that all employees at Bee'ah will receive a base salary increase starting from May 1st, 2012 along with other benefits, in reflection of the company's performance.
