Bee'ah and Sharjah East Coast and Central Region Municipalities discuss new waste management systems strategy aiming for zero-waste by 2015

Bee'ah - the Middle East's leading and award-winning fully integrated environment and waste management company - yesterday welcomed a visit from the heads of the Sharjah East Coast and Central Region Municipalities, who came to learn more about Bee'ah's Waste Management Centre and its facilities, as well as discuss the management of waste in the Sharjah Emirate and implement new projects, to reach zero-waste diversion by 2015.

Chief Executive Officer of Bee'ah, Mr. Khaled Al Huraimel and Bee'ah's senior management team introduced and presented the state-of-the-art technologies adopted by Bee'ah for the first time in the Middle East, and how the company will positively develop and improve the current waste management systems in the Emirate.

During the visit, the General Managers from each municipality in Sharjah commended Bee'ah for its efforts over the past years in innovative waste management systems in the region, as well as the improvement of landfill sites across Sharjah.
Those attending included Mr. Ali Musabah Al Tunaiji - General Manager of Al Dhaid Municipality, Mr. Musabah Al Ketbi - General Manager of Maleha Municipality, Mr. Salim Al Mayyalah - General Manager of Madam Municipality, Mr. Ahmad Juma Al Hora - General Manager of Kalba Municipality, Mr. Mohamed Saif Al Naqbi - General Manager of Khor Fakkan Municipality, and Mr. Talib Saffar - General Manager of Debba Al Hosn Municipality.

Moving forward, Bee'ah will put in a place a detailed waste management strategy for each city in Sharjah, aiming to align and collectively merge the waste management systems towards the objective of zero-waste to landfill by 2015.

Putting this strategy to action, Bee'ah is underway to signing an agreement to fully handle the waste sites and haulage in those cities within Sharjah.

Commenting on the visit, His Excellency Salim Al Owais, Chairman of Bee'ah said: "We are proud to showcase to our neighbouring Municipalities of Sharjah the substantial progress that Bee'ah is making towards its vision to make Sharjah a shining example in environmental protection in the region. We look forward to working closely with all of Sharjah's Municipalities on our path to reach 100% waste diversion by 2015 for the Emirate of Sharjah."

His Excellency Eng. Sultan Al Mualla, Vice Chairman of Bee'ah and Director General of Sharjah Municipality said about the visit: "According to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the UAE and Ruler of Sharjah, the environment is a major concern for the Emirate, and we are doing our utmost to address these challenges. By handing the management of waste within Sharjah to Bee'ah, allows us to help meet our common goal and improve our environment."
