VMware acquires Virsto to boost growth

VMware Inc. has acquired Virsto Software as part of a strategy to boost its storage portfolio and its desktop virtualisation business, Dow Jones has reported. US-based Virsto provides software designed to reduce the cost and complexity of storage for desktop-virtualisation and cloud-computing efforts. "We believe that the acquisition of Virsto will accelerate our development of storage technologies, allowing our customers to greatly improve the efficiency and performance of storage in virtual infrastructure," said John Gilmartin, VMware's vice president of storage and availability.
