The million dollar question!
I have recently purchased a new LCD TV, much to my wife's dismay! She just really didn't understand why there was a need to upgrade. There are many reasons for and against both plasma's and LCD. I would suggest going into a shop and watching a DVD on both formats. Bearing in mind that the pre set colours in showrooms will be too colour rich. Ask the assistant to calibrate both systems as close to each other as possible. TV's are being launched at an unbelievable pace. I am already thinking of upgrading mine......................just don't tell my wife! Good luck with your purchase and remember no matter what anyone says or advises its your money and you need to be happy with the purchase.........spend it wisely! Now I am off to buy a PS3!

Usally LCD have a better definition, and better black. There are some exception for plasma but only on few brands like Pioneer. But if you want a TV that will be ready for the new technology like Blu Ray or Full HD ... go for a LCD

I personally have a Sony WEGA Plasma and very happy with it. I bought it a few years ago before LCD's became popular and affordable. It seems that the recent trend is to go for an LCD. Check out this pro's and con's link from Panasonic:

It seems LCD's are the way to go now!

I am looking at investing in a new TV. Do I choose plasma or LCD? What are the benefits (and disadvantages) of each?
