HH. Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Finance Minister and Chairman Of Dubai Municipality has approved civic body’s new projects including 3 neighbourhood parks and one public square.
The projects come within Dubai Municipality’s efforts to provide the public enough facilities for entertainment and recreation and as part of its policy to increase green spaces in the city.
The projects will be accomplished at a cost of 14.6 million and are expected to finish by the first quarter of the year 2015. While talking about the new projects Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality said, “The advancement Dubai witnesses these days is part of overall development of the city in line with the global advancement with giving high importance to the environment. Dubai Municipality has been keen on studying the needs of residents and neighbourhoods with regards to entertainment and recreational facilities.”
“These projects comes as part of these studies and out of our commitment to better the municipal services to citizens, residents and visitors. Special consideration will be given to people of special needs in the project design and all safety measures will be taken to account,” he added.
Lootah said, “Dubai Municipality plans to convert the city to a real green oasis where people can enjoy good air and greenery.” He stressed, “Advancement, as Dubai Municipality envisions, is not confined to mere construction of buildings, rather it’s a balanced and comprehensive attempt to blend the material advancement and the nature.” Lootah said, “The upcoming park projects are in Al-Twar 2, Oud Muteena, and Al-Mizhar 1 neighbourhoods.”
According to him public square project is planned in Muhaisina 3 area.
It is learnt that the four projects now approved would be executed in a total area of 7.46 hectors. Play equipments, tree-roofed sitting areas, walking-tracks with roofed wooden sitting benches alongside, separate public utility services for gents, ladies and for special needs persons and other facilities would be available in the projects. Dubai Municipality has planned to plant enough trees, bushes, flower plants and lawns in the projects to ensure a green environment that cool the minds of visitors. According to the officials a decorative lighting system that operate by solar power would entertain visitors during the night time.
Al-Twar 2 Neighbourhood Park
The park built in a total area of 2 hectors will have main building that includes security office, store and public utility services and a plaza that is connected with paved walking tracks with roofed seating alongside. Children’s play areas will be provided for the age group 2-5 and 6-12 separately. Separate areas for family as well as a 520 meter running-track along with the warm-up play area are the other facilities of the park which will be lit by solar energy.
Oud Muteena Park
This residential park is a multi-purpose entertainment spot for women and youths residing in Oud Muteena area. The project which is built in 3.26 hector area will have family area, main building, walking track , plaza and kids area in onside. The other side, 4 courts for playing football, 1 for volley ball, a 575 meter rubberized running track are provided. The park is separated from the outer space with a metal wall.
Al-Mizhar 1 Park
It is the first of the three garden projects planned in Al-Mizhar 1 residential area and is executed as part of the policy to expand the green areas in the Emirate as well as within the efforts to increase areas for entertainment, recreation and tourism purposes. The 1.2 hector area project will have different kind of trees and other common facilities including 400 meter long running track around the park.
Public Square in Al-Muhaisina 3
This project will add the beauty of the area where such facilities are less in numbers. The project will be built in an area of total 1 hector and will have family area, roofed- sitting benches, service building, paved walk-ways, children’s play area, and a medium sized plaza. All the lighting system will be operated by using solar energy.
