In 2013, Emirates Palace recorded an increase of more than 200 percent in Chinese visitors during the month of January compared to the same period in the previous year.
The figures at Emirates Palace indicate that the Chinese are travelling more to the United Arab Emirates, and choosing Abu Dhabi as their holiday destination. The arrival of the Chinese New Year this past weekend saw many Chinese guests visiting Emirates Palace. According to tradition, the Year of the Horse ushers in a year of courage, travel, and adventure.
“Our figures in the last year show that the Chinese are definitely traveling, and they are stopping by Emirates Palace,” said Holger Schroth, General Manager of Emirates Palace. “It is great to see that Abu Dhabi increasingly appeals to the Chinese market.”
“In the spirit of the Year of the Horse, I am sure we will welcome many more Chinese guests through our doors as they continue to explore and travel in the region.”
The most significant increase has been in Chinese nationals visiting the restaurants and attending the events as part of tour groups. In this period, there was a 65% increase in room nights booked by Chinese nationals.
The Palace had exceptional business from Chinese guests during the Chinese New Year periods in particular. This year, Emirates Palace celebrated the Year of the Horse with festive activities all around the hotel, including a buffet with traditional Chinese favourites, such as dim sum, Hong Kong style seafood and wok fried delicacies.
