Oman Gas Company begins operations in Sur

Oman Gas Company, the Sultanate’s natural gas transportation company, announces the beginning of its operations in the Wilayat of Sur.

On this occasion, Eng. Yousuf Bin Mohammed al Ojaili, CEO of the company, said: “the Wilayat of Sur is the sixth regional district of the company’s operations and the Gas Supply Station is the second largest among the other gas supply stations managed by the company”.

“The gas supply station at Sur represents a quantum leap to our business; it is part of a plan set for the expansion of the company’s operations to meet the demand for natural gas by all vibrant economic sectors in the Sultanate. It is worth highlighting that the station is managed by highly qualified 100% Omani staff trained with the best practices of systems and safety related to management of this type of gas supply stations”. Mr. al Ojaili added.

Highlighting company’s future plans in Sur, the CEO said: “There are further plans for the company’s operations in Sur, including the management of gas supply stations of Oman India Fertilizer Company, Al Kamel Power Plant and Sur Industrial Estate”.

The CEO expressed his gratitude to all concerned authorities for their significant role in the success of this project, in particularly; the Ministry of Oil and Gas for its confidence in the company, and Petroleum Development of Oman.

Since its inception in 2000, Oman Gas Company has grown in stature and reputation into an integrated enterprise harnessing the power of Oman’s natural gas transportation. The Company employs about 355 people, of whom 95 % are Omanis. OGC strives to provide gas to the main industrial sectors and major consumers comprising of Domestic, Power and Desalination plants, Fertilizer, Methanol, Petrochemical, Refinery, Steel and Cement plants, through a wide network of natural gas pipelines and compressor stations spread across the country with more than 2500 kilometers of high pressure transmission pipelines and ancillary facilities.
