A first-of-its-kind instructional course on spinal disorders is being organized by Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Bone & Joint Institute and The Orthopedic Surgery Department.

The Spine Instructional Course 2014 will be held from 1-2 March and will highlight latest trends in diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for patients experiencing spinal problems.

The two-day course will provide an in-depth and state-of-the-art overview of a variety of spinal issues, including those common in Qatar; back pain, degenerative disc prolapsed, and scoliosis (deformity in the spine). Cases of failed back surgery, where the patient had an operation either in Qatar or somewhere else and experienced post –operation complications and spine infection tumors, will also be covered in the presentations during the course.

Orthopedic residents, specialists, consultants, neurosurgeons, radiologists, physiotherapists, anesthetists, and general practitioners interested in updating their knowledge on the subject will be able to benefit from the course.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for all practitioners, who are dealing with the management and treatment of spinal injuries and disorders, to come together and benefit from the wealth of knowledge that will be shared by international and local experts in the field during the course,” said Dr. Mohammed Al Ateeq Al Dosari, Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Director of the Bone & Joint Institute, HMC.

“For HMC, this will be a highly significant event as it will reflect the corporation’s dedicated efforts of enhancing its services and providing the best possible care to our patients in all areas.”

According to Dr. Abdul Moeen Baco, Co-Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Senior Consultant, Orthopedic Surgery, HMC: “The course will allow attendees to review their knowledge of basic spinal topics as well as receive the most updated information and learn how to incorporate the latest research and pioneering treatment options available into their daily practice.”
