According to figures released by the Egyptian Information and Decision Support Centre, the number of mobile phone and internet subscribers in the country increased last year, while fixed line subscribers continued to decline, Ahram has reported. Mobile subscribers increased by 4.05% to 97.47 million in September 2013 from September 2012, when they totalled 93.72 million, while internet users reached 37.14 million in September 2013, up 17.83% from 31.52 million a year ago. However, the number of land-line subscribers dropped 19.2% to 6.84 million, compared with 8.47 million in the same month a year earlier, and down 50.25% from 2008, when Egypt had 13.75 million fixed lines.
