British Airways brings Airbus 321 to Cairo-London route

In a move toward greater operational efficiency, as of January 2013 British Airways will be operating the Airbus A321 aircraft on the daily Cairo-London route. The Airbus A321, which will land at London Heathrow Terminal 1, will replace the Boeing 777 which will now be used for long-haul flights of more than 5 hours.

The newly-refurbished modern aircraft has new interiors featuring 23 business-class seats with 78" lie-flat beds with 45" seat pitch - a revolutionary new seat offering greater personal space and setting standards for comfort.

The aircraft's 131 economy-class seats feature a 31" pitch in a state-of-the-art design and new stylish appearance. In addition, the Airbus A321 also boasts the Thales i5000 AVOD in-flight entertainment system in all seats.

"The A321 aircraft is a great asset to the British Airways fleet and combined with our cutting-edge in-flight entertainment, enhanced catering, and the experience of our Arabic-speaking cabin crew, we feel confident that our loyal customers will enjoy the best possible experience with British Airways," explained Mervat Alfy, British Airways Commercial Manager in Egypt.

Alfy continued, "As a full service global airline, British Airways has a responsibility to use our aircraft as efficiently as possible to benefit our customers worldwide. The Airbus A321 is much better suited to the Cairo-London route in term of range, capacity, operating costs and fuel efficiency. This change will enable us to better serve the route and continue to offer our Egyptian customers more competitive fares while experiencing the superior service - from booking to baggage claim - which they've come to expect from British Airways."
