British Council confirms support for GHEDEX 2013

British Council Oman has announced its support for and participation of leading UK Universities at GHEDEX 2013. Organised by OITE Trade Fairs under the patronage of the Ministry of Higher Education, the Global Higher Education Exhibition will take place from 23rd-25th April, 2013 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre.

"With the onset of globalisation, individuals are enhancing their lifestyles and improving themselves in terms of educational attainment, career development and employment prospects. Accessing UK higher education, which has a strong international dimension, has consistently high educational standards and encourages top level international students from across the globe, Omanis can engage with some of the best academics and educational programmes in the world. We at the British Council aim to support both the Omani student considering studying in the UK and the UK's higher education sector by supporting such education fairs and when ever possible providing access to UK educational institutions. With this in mind we are pleased to welcome universities from UK to Oman to meet and interact with students in Oman at GHEDEX 2013" said Mr. Paul Doubleday, Director, British Council.

GHEDEX 2012 recorded maximum exhibitor participation from UK, with over 38 higher education institutions and four education service providers/educations advisors participating at the exhibition.

The British Council also organised a seminar with education representatives at the event to facilitate discussion pertaining to increasing the rate of enrolment of Omani students into UK colleges and universities.

With over 75 years of experience on their side, British Council, the United Kingdom's international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities is established in six continents and over 100 countries and creates international opportunities for the people of the UK and other countries.

"Students looking to continue their education overseas may consider UK Universities to be an adept choice of excellence in education and will find the exhibition extremely beneficial by way of interacting with representatives from premier higher education institutions in the UK and generating awareness of enrolment systems, fee structures, testing procedures etc," said Mr. Muktar Mirza, Project Manager, GHEDEX.
