The central bank of Bahrain has upgraded the representative office licence of BSI SA, one of Switzerland's oldest banks, to "investment business firm/Category 2 (Branch)," Daily Tribune has reported. The approval follows a decision by BSI to make its Bahrain operation into a hub for the entire Middle East region. "BSI believes that Bahrain was the ideal place to set up its presence in the Middle East," said Edmondo Sarteur, the CEO of BSI Bahrain branch. "We have expanded our team who provide specialised asset management services and upgraded our licence to expand our product and service offerings in the Middle East to better serve our client base."
