"Since ratifying Montreal Protocol in 1989 phase-out of production and consumption of several ozone depleting substances has been slowly implemented with the co operation of local industries and businesses in the UAE. After intensifying in January 2010 the campaign has had good results," said Hamdan Al Shaer, Director, Environment Department of Dubai Municipality.

He said this while he was inaugurating second round of Refrigerants Review held in Jumeira Beach Hotel, recently.

"Not only Carbone Dioxide emissions but all other Kyoto Protocol gases such as fluorinated ones should be phased-out to save generations next," he added.

He said, "Several giant companies have started adopting natural refrigeration. But, though being best in an economic ,environmental and safety point of view they still remain in gloom in the markets."

Implementation bodies government agencies, end-users, suppliers and service providers participated in the second round of Refrigerants Review seminar.
