Canadian Ambassador visits the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

H.E. Arif Lalani, Canada's Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, has expressed his admiration for the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque as a cultural tourism destination that is open to visitors from all faiths, attracts millions of visitors annually from different countries. On visiting the mausoleum of Sheikh Zayed, he noted the visionary leadership of His Highness and that the UAE and Canada share a commitment to openness and pluralism.

The visit began with a tour of the mosque and its main halls, where there was an official SZGMC Guide describing to the Canadian Ambassador the architectural and decorative components of this unique monument which confirms the greatness and splendour of the Islamic culture throughout the ages.

His Excellency visited the Library where he had a look at various publications and rare books about Islamic culture; its arts and architecture. His Excellency praised the library stating that it is a spot of culture and knowledge that promotes a culture of tolerance and coexistence between people from different nations.

At the end of the visit, the Director of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Center, Mr. Yousif Al Obaidli, presented His Excellency with a copy of the book "Spaces of Light: Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Photographs".
