Canadian Trade Minister visits SABIC, seeks to strengthen business ties

Canadian Minister of International Trade & Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway Ed Fast visited the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) headquarters in Riyadh on October 7 as part of his overall tour of Saudi Arabia.
During the meeting, the Canadian delegation explored new business opportunities and discussed ways to further strengthen existing commercial ties between the Canadian private sector and SABIC.
The two sides shared their perspectives on several current and emerging trade and industry issues, including the latest trends in the petrochemical industry, possible new investment projects in the sector, and global economic trends.
Commenting on the visit, Al-Mady said, "Saudi-Canadian business relations have grown over the years and have covered many issues of common interest on the international arena. SABIC is committed to be part of these growing relations between the two countries, specifically in trade and industry."
SABIC has a manufacturing facility in Long Sault and a compounding operation in Coburg, Canada that produces a wide range of compounded products.
The Long Sault site serves the building and construction and aerospace markets.
The Cobourg site specializes in small lot, customer colored segment for a vast majority of Lexan, Cycolac, Cycoloy, Valox, Xenoy and Xylex SABIC grades. The site services customers in the telecommunications, consumer electronics, medical equipment, automotive, aircraft, rail transportation, and consumer products sectors, to name a few.
SABIC also has several branches of its Polymershapes distribution business in Canada.
