Car ownership in Bahrain among world's highest

Bahrain's works minister Essam Khalaf has said the kingdom has one of the highest rates of car ownership in the world, Gulf Daily News has reported. "Almost every other person in the country owned a car," which is posing a major problem for planners seeking to tackle a car-parking conundrum, particularly in old neighbourhoods, Khalaf told lawmakers. "We have found solutions to car parking problems through purchasing or leasing of private land. We are also working on other solutions to solve the issue," the minister said. "That is something parliament has to address."
