Carrefour donates 54,000 Iftar meals for those in need this Ramadan

Carrefour, the world's second largest retailer, today announced that it will donate 54,000 Iftar meals to the disadvantaged via Oman Charitable Organization (OCO), during the holy month of Ramadan.
"Ramadan is an exceptional time of year where helping others is at the forefront of everyone's minds. It gives us time to reflect on the things that we have in life and how we can help those less fortunate than ourselves," commented GCC Senior Vice President of Carrefour, Henry Changeux. "When we heard that OCO were donating Iftar meals again this year, we wanted to get involved to ensure thousands of people, who might otherwise go hungry, will be given meals this Ramadan." Changeux concluded.
Oman Charitable Organization was established in Oman in 1996 and has worked to ease the suffering of people, and provide aid to the suffering, all around the world. Their latest activities involve providing food and clothing to those affected in Somalia's as well as assisting those displaced from the Abyan province in Yemen.
Recognized as one of the most active shopping concept developers in the region, the Majid Al Futtaim group first introduced the Carrefour model to the Middle East in 1995. Majid Al Futtaim Retail manages Majid Al Futtaim Hypermarkets, a joint venture company with the world's second largest retailer Carrefour, and offers shoppers the same quality, variety and value-for-money that have made the brand a household name to millions over the world.
In the expansion of Carrefour across the region currently there are 50 hypermarkets and 41 supermarkets in the Middle East.
