- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, March 13 - 2013 at 09:36
- PRESS RELEASE
The CBD-Al Ahli Pre-paid Card, created within the framework of an agreement between the Commercial Bank of Dubai and Al Ahli, was launched.
This is in keeping with the bank's commitment to support the sports movement in the United Arab Emirates.
The CBD Al Ahli Pre-paid Card will significantly reduce administrative paperwork and costs for the Al Ahli management, and eliminate the risk involved in large amounts of cash distribution.
Through the direct reloading of the card, cardholders will receive their salaries without any delay. They will also no longer need to carry much cash for purchases, thus minimising the risk of theft, the cardholder can use the pre-paid card to pay for purchases at any point of sale and to withdraw cash from ATMs all over the world exactly as they would use a debit card.
The CBD Al Ahli Card will also help the cardholders to control their spending more effectively through balance enquiry and a detailed card statement every month.
The agreement had been signed by Faisal Galadari, General Manager, Business Group, CBD, and Ahmed Khalifa Hammad, CEO of Al Ahli Club, during a ceremony held at the club headquarters in Dubai.
Marking the launch of the CBD Ahli Card, Galadari said, "This is one of CBD's many innovative products that offer cashless solutions, streamlining administrative procedures for the card subscriber and supporting the UAE government's e-initiatives."
He reiterated that partnerships such as the one with Al Ahli Club aided CBD's corporate social responsibility commitments, supporting the process of development in various sectors, including sport.
Ahmed Khalifa Hammad said, "The partnership with CBD, one of the leading financial institutions in the UAE, would be greatly beneficial." "This collaboration would benefit athletes, fans and the entire sports sector in the UAE," he added.
He stressed, "This initiative by CBD reflected the bank's keenness to support sport and the youth. An investment in this field, he said, was the best investment, and CBD's involvement with Al Ahli Club Dubai was yet another of the bank's many pioneering initiatives to support sporting activities in the country."
"We would like to thank the board of directors and the CBD family for this," said the club CEO.
