Bahrain's Ithmaar Development Co (IDC) has awarded Cebarco Construction the contract for infrastructure works for the first phase of the $1.6bn Dilmunia Island, Gulf Daily News has reported. The deal covers the 125-hectare island's highways and roads, a distributor bridge crossing on top of Dilmunia's Grand Canal, landscaping, in addition to power, water, sewerage and drainage, and telecoms networks. Dilmunia is a mixed-use project built on man-made island that has already come up off the coast of Muharraq. It will include residences, hotels, leisure and shopping districts, and provide residents and visitors with hospital facilities, spas and wellness services in a resort-type environment.
