Central Electricity Generating launches employee rotation programme in collaboration with NOMAC

Central Electricity Generating Company (CEGCO) announced the launch of an employee rotation programme, in collaboration with First National Operation and Maintenance Company Ltd (NOMAC), Saudi Arabia's leading independent operations and maintenance service provider for the energy and water desalination industries.

The rotation programme falls in line with CEGCO's ongoing efforts to exchange engineers, as well as operation and maintenance technicians between both companies, providing them with opportunities for growth and development, in addition to exposing them to new technologies, and management systems and procedures.

This step is part of an initiative carried out by ACWA Power International - who acquired a 51% stake in CEGCO and is a key partner - and corresponds with the Company's strategic direction towards investing in its human resources. A total of 33 employees from CEGCO and 24 from NOMAC were selected to rotate between both companies over the course of 12-15 months.

As part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between both companies, the first exchange comprised two groups, each consisting of 12 CEGCO employees who worked in NOMAC's Shuaibah Independent Water and Power Project (SIWPP), Shuqaiq Independent Water and Power Project (SQIPP) and Rabigh Operations and Maintenance Company (ROMCO), in addition to nine NOMAC employees who worked at CEGCO's Rehab Gas Turbine Power Station, Aqaba Thermal Power Station and Risheh Power Station.

The rotation programme is a testament to the important role that CEGCO's employees play in the growth and success of the Company. It also underscores CEGCO's ongoing commitment to developing its employees' skills and offering them opportunities to experience and learn from different work environments. This step is aimed at exchanging expertise between both companies, in a manner that enables employees to advance both professionally and personally whilst also bolstering performance levels.

As an industry pioneer, NOMAC currently has full operational responsibility for five mega projects in the energy and water desalination field in Saudi Arabia, and is fully responsible for the operation and maintenance of two barge-mounted, self-supporting desalination plants. In total, NOMAC is responsible for the operation of a portfolio of over 6,500 MW of power generation and 2.2 million cubic meters per day of desalinated water production.
