Chevron expands Kurdistan operations

Kurdistan's oil ministry has announced US oil firm Chevron Corp has expanded its presence in Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdish region by acquiring a stake in a new oil exploration block, Dow Jones has reported. The company and the Kurdish regional government have agreed on the terms of the deal but have yet to sign it, a ministry official said. The deal builds on Chevron's two existing oil licences in the region, which were acquired in July from Indian conglomerate Reliance Industries.
