Cirque de Glace Stars arrive in Jordan

The world-renowned Cirque de Glace ice stars have finally arrived to Jordan on 10th February, 2013, and preparations to construct the ice stage in accordance with top international standards have been successfully concluded.
Large ice chillers were used to freeze the water to create the solid ice-rink for the legendary show.
The team of Russian Ice Stars flew in from London in their second visit to the Middle East, after visiting Kuwait. On their tour of Amman, the acclaimed skaters visited local landmarks including the awe-inspiring Nabatean city of Petra.
In an effort to share their technical expertise, creativity and internationally-recognized skills, the Cirque de Glace team also welcomed the members of the Jordan Gymnastics Federation, as well as a group of young Jordanian artists and prominent figures in show business to their rehearsals at the Cultural Palace in Al Hussein Youth City.
Souha Bawab, Executive Director of Friends of Jordan Festivals, explained, "The rationale behind inviting members of the community who do not always have a chance to attend such world-class shows. She also indicated how eager she was to receive audience feedback regarding Evolution which is one of Cirque de Glace's most praised shows, combining music, art, drama, fashion, skill and modern sound and lighting effects. "I would like to thank the private sector companies and entities that presented children and women from various community organizations with the chance to attend the show as part of their CSR programmes. These companies include Integrated Technology Group (ITG), Mahmoudia Motors, Orange, Amman Baccalaureate School (ABS), Ahliyyah School for Girls (ASG) and Cambridge High School (CHS)."
In turn, Julian Deplidge, Creative and Tour Director of Cirque de Glace, said, "Upon arriving to Jordan, we immediately witnessed a unique blend of history, contemporary culture and youthful ambition. We are really looking forward to connecting to Jordanian audiences and hope that this show will be the starting point for more to come from Cirque de Glace in this beautiful country."
Scheduled to be performed over the course of three days, the show premiered on Thursday 14th, and will continue throughout Friday 15th and Saturday 16th February, 2013. On Friday and Saturday, the shows will take place twice a day at 4 pm and 8 pm at the Cultural Palace in Al Hussein Youth City. In addition to the 8 pm show and with the support of a number of local companies, a special 11 am show on Thursday 14th was added in order to provide schools and NGOs with the opportunity to attend this amazing performance.
Entities that were presented with tickets to the performance were several schools under the royal Madrasati initiative and two schools in Karak governorate, in addition to Al Hussein Society for the Physically Challenged, Al Hussein Cancer Foundation, Dar Al Birr, friends and family members of mentally-challenged individuals, the National Society for the Mentally Handicapped, Iraq Al Ameer Women's Association, Jerash Women's Association, youth committees under the Jordan Hashemite Fund for Human Development, Queen Zein Al Sharaf Institute for Development, Omar Bin Al Khattab Charitable Society, Mar Mansour Charitable Society, Mabarrat Um Al Hussein and SOS Children's Villages. The Jordan Tourism Board provided bus transportation for all attendees.
Evolution brings to life the story of the creation of mankind, Man's evolution and the journey to the limits of technology. Combining dazzling ice dance and acrobatics with the contradicting elements of ice and fire, Cirque de Glace delivers a dynamic, thrilling and visually stunning show that transports audiences to a world beyond imagination.
The shows are performed by professional Russian ice skaters of incredibly high standard, many of whom hold prestigious European and international ice-skating accolades. In 1995, Wild Rose presented The Phantom of the Opera on Ice followed by Carmen on Ice in 1996. New productions of The Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella followed in 1997 and 1998, among numerous other shows.
Cirque de Glace's official carrier is Royal Jordanian Airlines and the show is sponsored by Bank al Etihad. Media sponsors include Fann FM, Rotana, Al Farida Group, Play FM, Ro'ya TV and Bidaya Corporate Communications.
