Cleartrip partners with Visa to offer valuable rewards to travelers

Cleartrip and Visa International have entered into an agreement allowing Visa credit and debit card holder's great convenience to book international flights and hotels online. Customers in the UAE can now tour the globe in style, through the click of a button and at very competitive rates.

The agreement gives Visa credit card holders automatic up to 30% money back on the cost of their travels if made through Cleartrip.

Once the Visa cardholder uses the card on cleartrip.ae he or she is entitled to book from any of Cleartrip's networks of hotels and airlines while enjoying up to 30% money back on their total travel cost.

Tarique Khatri, Senior Vice President at Cleartrip said: "Our alliance with Visa, the leading global payments technology company, is a sign of deeper commitment to offer greater value to our growing customer base in the GCC countries. Since the launch of our various sites in UAE, coupled with the recent launch of our Saudi Arabia site, our success has hinged upon we being able to deliver value to our customers, something we will continue to do moving forward".

"There is no social limit to who can book. He added that the studies from global travel market research firms show that online bookings in the Middle East have grown by nearly a third this year. Online travel sales in the region will grow to almost $10.4bn this year as compared to US $7.176bn 2011 and the market is expected to reach $15.8bn by 2014.

In 2011, 39% of all online bookings in the Middle East were made through online travel agencies, and the gross booking value is set to nearly double from $3.1bn to $6bn by 2014m, the report said.

Karim Beg, Head of Regional Marketing for MENA at Visa said: "With this agreement, Visa once again reinforces its ongoing commitment to ensure that its cardholders receive significant benefits in terms of savings when they use their Visa credit or debit card online. Visa continuously works with merchants and online portals to create ways that make travel bookings and online shopping convenient and cost-saving for its cardholders across the GCC. This not only supports the growth of eCommerce in the region and drives cross border transactions but also creates an environment of safety - allowing Visa cardholders to feel secure when making their online transactions."

In addition, Cleartrip has developed a modern and easy to use mobile site for smart phones. Smartphones represent 62% of total mobile phones in the UAE. The latest reports in this field indicate that 43% of these users browse the internet for travel-related information and 54% make an online purchase.
