COMEX 2013 welcomes the 4G phenomenon

The 4G phenomenon is upon us and is getting ready to take the market by storm with research already underway for 5G technology.

4G is now being run in different parts of the world including Germany, Japan, Norway, South Korea, Sweden, UK and USA and Oman can be proud of being counted amongst these first countries to offer the service. COMEX 2013 now takes a look at what the 4G providers in Oman have to say about the 4G facilities they are offering at the event.

"Omantel, the pioneer provider of leading edge telecommunications services in the Sultanate, is the 1st telecom operator to introduce the 4G LTE technology in Oman. As of March 2013, Omantel's 4G network covers areas in Wadi Kabir, Hamriyah, Ruwi, Amerat, MSQ, Khuwair, Ghubrah, Athaibah, Mawaleh, Khoudh, SQU, Seeb, KOM, Barka, Rustaq, Mussanah, Suwaiq, Khaburah, Saham, Sohar, Buraimi, Sur, Nizwa, Khasab, and Duqm. Omantel is also the first operator in the Sultanate that provides 4G LTE for handsets, starting with the Nokia flagship phone 'Lumia 920' which comes LTE-ready. There's also a number of handsets being tested prior to their official launch. The 4G service can be simply activated on the supported devices by sending '4G' to 91221," says Mr. Saleh al Maimani, Product Development Manager at Consumer Business Unit, Omantel.

Khalid Al-Zadjali, Nawras Protocol and Events Manager, said, "Life just got faster at Nawras thanks to the Network Turbocharging programme and COMEX will be a great opportunity for us to show visitors exactly what we mean by this exciting development. COMEX 2013 taking place from 25th -29th March at the Oman International Exhibition Centre invites consumers to get in touch with companies offering 4G technology products at COMEX Shopper to learn about this technology and its availability and be a part of the 4G phenomenon. The event is held under the patronage of e.oman and organised by OITE Trade Fairs.
