High Committee holds fifth WEF 2012 meeting on plans for organizing and managing Forum

The committee went over the arrangements to host the 2012 World Energy Forum which will take place in Dubai between the 22—24 October 2012 at the Dubai World Trade Center with the theme A Forum for World Leaders pushing an agenda of sustainable clean energy for all.

The meeting was chaired by HE Mohammed bin Dhaen Al Hamli, Minister of Energy of the UAE and Chairman of the High Committee for WEF 2012 Dubai, attended by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of The Supreme Council of Energy 'SCE' and Vice Chairman of the High Committee for WEF 2012 Dubai, Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads and Transport Authority, Ahmed Abdulla Al Shaikh, Managing Director of Dubai Media Incorporated, Khalid bin Sulayem, Director General of the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Ahmad Al Khaja on behalf of HE Hilal Saeed Al Marri, CEO of the Dubai World Trade Centre, Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Chairman of the Services, Logistics and Facilities Committee and Khawla Al Mehairi Vice Chairperson of the Media and Marketing Committee and General Coordinator for the High Committee, along with other members of the committee.

The committee discussed the media plan, key messages and the logistical and hospitality services at the hotels and the World Trade Centre's exhibition halls related to preparations for the Forum that will host heads of state, ministers, energy experts and business leaders from around the world.

During the meeting, the progress of the sub-committees was reviewed, with the ultimate goal of making the Forum a resounding success to strengthen the position of the UAE and Dubai as a global hub for finance, business, trade, research, renewable energy and sustainability. The attendees also discussed preparations underway to hold a press conference on 7 October to shed more light on the World Energy Forum.

"We discussed the agenda of the World Energy Forum, whose participants will address the need for safer and more sustainable energy for all the nations of the world, especially as energy is a crucial element in driving sustainable development," said Al Tayer after the meeting.

"Forum discussions will focus on central energy and sustainability issues such as energy policies, thought leadership in the energy sector, traditional and renewable energy, oil, gas, clean coal, nuclear energy, sustainable development, water and urban development, public health, energy security, justice, energy and water, the role of women in sustainable development, innovation and financing energy projects," concluded Al Tayer.
