Cristal has plans to further expand into Iraq

Abu Dhabi-based Cristal Group, which plans to open its first Baghdad hotel, the Cristal Grand Ishtar, at the start of May, has said it wants to expand its presence in the country to include Erbil, Karbala, Basra and Suleimanya in the next two years, Iraq Business News has reported. The group has signed two deals in Erbil; the $13m Cristal Hotel Erbil is set to open in October, while the slightly larger Cristal Grand Erbil is expected to open in 2014 at a cost of $25m. Cristal said it also expects to open a hotel in Basra within a year. Hotels in Suleimanya and in Karbala are also planned.
